Shipbuilding

building a kitchen in la

i can see why noah was so famous for building a boat with no nails or screws. jesus.

i just moved into a new space in downtown LA. I miss new york – i never read here because there’s no subway and unless i get a job as a taxi driver i’m not going to read at the wheel. in the process of building the kitchen here I have taken on a bit of woodworking knowledge. in high school i enjoyed wood shop but would get kicked out because i would get high and start jig-sawing some wood all creative and special and the teacher – hatrack he was called because he wasn’t good for much more than that – would start yelling from across the room. this didn’t necessarily mean i was trouble becuase it was loud in there and he would yell even when explaining the innerworkings of a bandsaw.

so i’ve found that, like my adolescent experience, the most important lesson is that the aesthetic of a project is often developed from a need. The found objects along the way and the farther we deviate from the original plan, the more interesting it becomes. so this inspires me to make an art piece with NO plans, no ideas, just whats there… any ideas? oh wait, no ideas – dont spoil my creative-ignorant-genius.

but seriously. let me know if you have any ideas. discreetly.
