Armory Show & Sustainable Furniture

At the lounge of the Armory Show in New York this last weekend, Vivavi showcased some of their sustainable furniture designs in the lounge. They had these lounge chairs made of liana vines; the vines are often ecologically destructive and can “suppress tree growth.”

Chair

After hours of art-viewing, everyone wanted one of these chairs.

Also, as we left the Armory Show, it was already dark, and a snowstorm had started!

Park

We passed the northern edge of DeWitt Clinton Park, and found this sign.

Maybe it was a joke on the “Armory Show,” or a reminder that nature is the best art. I didn’t put it up! But it couldn’t have been more perfect for the blog.

Here’s also a scary, but very technical article from Nature that says once you factor in those murderous liana vines, the carbon outlook for rainforests is even worse.

Wow, I wonder if kudzu vines could become furniture too… Those chairs look comfy. Did you try them out?
