Paul and I split a surfing lesson taught by this awesome chick named “Sticks” (or “Styx?”) who works out of the Frog Pad. She had us standing up in white water (and I think Paul caught a green wave or two). It was really fun.

But her best piece of advice came when we were wading out. She said “Shuffle your feet, dears. There are stingrays out here and you want to let them know you’re coming.”

I love Styx! She asked me what my favorite band was to distract me from thinking so much on the board, and I was up and away!
